The Big Three with Goose in the Pond

Goose in the PondAccurate cutting, precision piecing, and proper pressing--you need all three! In this class you will learn to accurately cut half square triangle units and more. Then set your machine up for optimum performance and that all-important scant ¼ inch seam allowance. Think you’re done? Almost…pressing can make or break your block and ultimately your quilt top. You’ll be amazed at how much you will learn in this class!

Binding 101

Binding is as important as every other step in quiltmaking, but is often neglected or hurriedly done. Find out how easy it is to do the job right while learning to cut straight-grain binding strips, miter corners, hand finish the back, and eliminate the "bump" where you started and ended. Hanging sleeves will also be covered. Sewing machine required.

Hand Quilting Sharon's Way

Whether you've just finished your first quilt top and are ready to learn to quilt, or simply want to improve your quilting stitch, come learn this unique way to quilt without poking your underneath fingers and without a hoop or frame. (It is not stab stitch.) Basting, marking methods, echo quilting, thread and batting are covered as well as the quilting stitch.

Old Time Cutwork Design

Try cutwork appliqué on a small scale as you work on a 14-inch finished block. You will learn to make the pattern, transfer it to cloth and begin the cutwork appliqué technique. We will cover points, curves and reverse appliqué. Students should be familiar with needleturn appliqué.

Mystery Weekend

This 40 x 48 inch two-color mystery quilt is just the ticket to get you through those February doldrums! Definitely a skill-builder class, we will be concentrating on rotary cutting, machine piecing and pressing. The best part? When we leave on Saturday at 5:30, we can leave everything right where we left off -- and we will be back when the shop opens on Sunday at 11:00! No packing up, no homework -- just a weekend of wonderful fun. Be sure to pick up a supply list at the shop.
